From New Hartford, George's Music Center in Torrington is about a 20 minute drive, and it's a store where the people who rent you the instrument are the same people who fix it.
New Hartford is a Region 7 town. Band and orchestra families rent here on a rent-to-own plan: you pay monthly, the fees count toward owning the instrument, and the reeds, valve oil and method book are on the shelf when you pick it up.
Downstairs there are five private lesson rooms where five teachers give weekly 30 minute lessons to kids and adults, on guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, brass, band instruments and strings.
On the main floor are the band and orchestra wall, guitars and amps, drums, keyboards and pro audio. The repair bench takes guitar setups, amps, and brass and woodwind service.

The store is about 20 minutes from New Hartford, on Route 4 on the east side of Torrington, in the Eastside Commons plaza.
